OUR MISSION
The Toronto Gay Hockey Association (TGHA) is a non-contact ice hockey league for gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, queer, and heterosexual people over the age of nineteen. The league is a not-for-profit organization that is run entirely by volunteers.
Our mission is to:
- To create an LGBTQ+ and allied positive space where people enjoy the game of hockey in an environment free from all forms of harassment or discrimination, which encourages fair play, openness and friendship.
- To foster a spirit of competition within social atmosphere that promotes the growth of leadership, skill, and community.
- To encourage interaction and learning among all player skill levels.
HISTORY
Founded in 1994, the TGHA began with a group of like-minded individuals who came together to play hockey in a friendly environment free of the aggressiveness typical of other leagues. That first group has since transformed and grown into the largest association of its kind in the world!
The TGHA is a not-for-profit organization run entirely by volunteers; it offers friendship and camaraderie in an environment free from harassment and discrimination. The league is fun but competitive in a way that promotes the growth of leadership, coaching, and playing skills. In addition, the association organizes and coordinates social events throughout the season.
