HOW DO I SIGN UP TO PLAY?
Registration opens in July and closes in August. Visit our home page and click on the "Registration To Participate" link to be redirected to our online registration form. Don't wait, the league fills up quickly once registration is open!
WHEN DOES THE SEASON START?
The season begins in September and ends in April.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The registration fee for the 2024/2025 season is $565.00
IS THERE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE FOR REGISTRATION FEES?Absolutely! We offer a subsidy plan to help those in need. For more information and to apply, click on Subsidy Plan under the Registration section.
CAN I GET A REFUND?
No refunds will be granted after the registration deadline except under extenuating circumstances, which are assessed case-by-case.
LOCATION
WHERE AND WHEN ARE THE GAMES PLAYED?
Games are typically scheduled on Sunday afternoons at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, formerly known as Maple Leaf Gardens. However, games are periodically scheduled on Saturday evenings at the Mastercard Centre for Hockey Excellence in Etobicoke.
IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE AT THE MATTAMY ATHLETIC CENTRE?
In addition to street parking, there are several paid public parking lots surrounding the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE AT THE MASTERCARD CENTRE FOR HOCKEY EXCELLENCE?
Parking at the Mastercard Centre is free.
GAMEPLAY
DO I NEED TO BE EXPERIENCED IN ORDER TO PLAY?
Not at all! Individuals of all skill levels are welcome, including beginners.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED TO PLAY HOCKEY?
We encourage players to wear all necessary protective gear on the ice. That includes a helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards, gloves, hockey pants, and jocks. Full-face masks are encouraged. However, our only requirement is that players wear a helmet at all times while playing hockey.
ARE THERE REFEREES?
Yes, we hire certified Hockey Referees.
DO TEAMS HAVE SCHEDULED PRACTICES?
No, most of our ice time is devoted to games.
DO YOU OFFER SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS?
Yes, we run skills development sessions during the season. These sessions are typically scheduled on Saturday afternoons. We run drills for the first 45-60 minutes, followed by a 30-minute scrimmage. Beginners and experienced players are encouraged to attend.
ARE TEAMS BALANCED FOR SKILL?
Team rosters are created during the annual TGHA Draft Party. We make every effort to create teams of equal strength based on what we know about each player from previous seasons and based on requests to accommodate player bonding arrangements.
Occasionally we find that, despite our best efforts, a team is unusually strong or unusually weak. We reserve the right to move players to other teams in an attempt to make the gameplay as balanced as possible.
DOES THE LEAGUE KEEP PLAYER STATS?
Player statistics are available on the team site portion of the website. We keep this information and use it during the draft.
