Canada Cup Tournament Returns to Toronto

The Toronto Gay Hockey Association is excited to host Canada Cup Tournament  in Toronto over Thanksgiving weekend, October 9–11, 2026.

Canada Cup brings together 2SLGBTQIA+ and allied hockey players from across Canada and the United States for a weekend of inclusive competition, community, and connection.

Registration format: Individual player registration

Divisions: Competitive, intermediate, and recreational divisions are expected. Final divisions may be adjusted based on registration numbers.

About the Canada Cup TOurnament

The Canada Cup Tournament is one of the signature events in adult 2SLGBTQIA+ hockey, bringing together players and teams for a weekend of competition, friendship, and community.

The 2026 tournament will aim to offer multiple divisions to accommodate a range of skill levels and competitiveness, including competitive, intermediate, and recreational play.

Tournament History

Canada Cup began as a friendship series between 2SLGBTQIA+ hockey players in Toronto and Montreal shortly after the Toronto Gay Hockey Association was formed in the early 1990s.

For many players, the Thanksgiving weekend tournament became an opportunity to gather with their hockey family, build community, and create a welcoming space around the game.

Since then, Canada Cup has grown into one of the largest 2SLGBTQIA+ hockey tournaments, welcoming teams and players from across North America.

Toronto and Montreal continue to share hosting duties, carrying forward the tournament’s legacy of friendship, competition, and community.

Pre-Registration Interest Form

Registration is not open yet, but TGHA has launched a pre-registration interest form to help us understand early interest from teams, players, free agents, and volunteers.

Please complete the form on this page if you are planning to attend, hoping to bring a team, interested in joining as a free agent, available to volunteer, or simply want to receive tournament updates.

Please note: the pre-registration interest form does not reserve a tournament spot. All players must complete the official registration form once registration opens.

Team Captains

Team captains who plan to bring a team to Canada Cup should complete the pre-registration interest form and include their team name.

You can also contact us directly at tournaments@gayhockey.com so we can add your team name to the registration form before official registration opens.

Individual Players & Free Agents

All players will register individually once registration opens. During registration, players will be asked to select their team name or register as a free agent.

Free agent placement will depend on registration numbers, available space, division needs, and team requirements.
