    Who Should Register?

    • You would like to provide temporary goalie coverage when a permanent goalie is unavailable.
    • You are unable to play every week but would like to participate when your schedule permits.

    How Substitute Goalie Opportunities Work

When a permanent goalie is unavailable, TGHA may contact eligible Occasional Goalies to provide temporary coverage for the game.

Substitute goalie assignments are coordinated in accordance with the TGHA Player Replacement and Substitution Policy. TGHA may consider factors such as:

    • The team requiring goalie coverage.
    • The date and time of the game.
    • Your availability.
    • Your goalie experience and current comfort level in net.
    • The number of eligible Occasional Goalies available.
    • The need to distribute opportunities fairly while ensuring scheduled games have appropriate goalie coverage.

When a suitable opportunity becomes available, you may be contacted by email. Some requests may arise on short notice, so please monitor the email address used during registration throughout the season.

Substitute opportunities vary throughout the season and cannot be guaranteed. Completing this registration does not guarantee game invitations, a minimum number of games, or placement in a permanent goalie position.

    Goalie Questionnaire

As part of registration, you will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire about your goalie experience, availability, and current comfort level in net.

TGHA welcomes goalies with a range of experience levels. The information you provide helps the League understand your background, coordinate appropriate goalie coverage, and identify opportunities that may be suitable for you.

Please provide complete and accurate information so the Goalie Coordinator can make informed decisions when arranging substitute coverage.

    What Happens After You Register?
    1. You will receive a registration confirmation email. Check your junk or spam folder if you do not see it in your inbox.
    2. TGHA will review the information provided in your goalie questionnaire.
    3. You will be added to the list of eligible Occasional Goalies.
    4. You may receive invitations to eligible on-ice activities, off-ice events, and other League opportunities.
    5. When goalie coverage is needed for a suitable game, the Goalie Coordinator may contact you by email.
    6. If you are available, respond promptly and follow the instructions included in the message.

Because goalie vacancies may occur unexpectedly, substitution requests can sometimes be made on short notice.

    Membership Status and League Governance

Occasional Goalies are non-voting members of TGHA. They are not eligible to participate in Board nominations or Board elections.

    Can Occasional Goalies Become Permanent?

Yes. Eligible Occasional Goalies may have an opportunity to become permanent goalies when roster positions become available, subject to the TGHA Constitution, the TGHA Player Replacement and Substitution Policy, registration priorities, and other applicable League policies.

Occasional Goalies who meaningfully participate throughout the season may receive an invitation to register for a permanent goalie position after returning players and before new players, where applicable. Meaningful participation may include:

    • Providing substitute goalie coverage for TGHA games.
    • Attending eligible on-ice activities.
    • Participating in off-ice events.
    • Responding reliably to communications about goalie availability.

Meaningful participation does not guarantee an invitation or permanent placement. All invitations remain subject to roster availability, registration priorities, goalie requirements, and applicable TGHA policies.
