The Toronto Gay Hockey Association is excited to welcome players from across Canada and the United States to the Canada Cup 2026 Hockey Tournament, taking place in Toronto over Thanksgiving weekend from October 9–11, 2026.

Canada Cup brings together 2SLGBTQIA+ and allied hockey players for a weekend of inclusive competition, community, and connection.

Tournament Details

• Dates: Friday, October 9 through Sunday, October 11, 2026
• Divisions: Recreational and Competitive divisions are planned.¹
• Format: Round-robin play followed by playoffs.¹
• Registration: Players register individually and select their team name or register as a free agent.

¹ The final division structure, team groupings and tournament format will be confirmed once registration numbers and participating teams are known.

Important Schedule Information

Tournament games begin Friday evening, October 9 at 7:30 PM. Players should plan their travel accordingly and be available to play beginning Friday evening.

Games will continue throughout Saturday and Sunday. The final game of the tournament is scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM on Sunday, October 11, so teams advancing through the tournament should plan their Sunday evening travel accordingly.

Venues

Tournament games will be played at several arenas across Toronto:

• Upper Canada College – Friday and Sunday
• Ted Reeve Community Arena – Saturday
• Larry Grossman Forest Hill Memorial Arena – Saturday and Sunday
• Leaside Memorial Community Gardens – Sunday, including the final game of the tournament

The complete tournament schedule and individual team game times will be released after registration and division assignments have been finalized.

Team Registration & Free Agents

Teams

• All tournament participants must complete an individual registration and select their team name during registration.
• Teams are encouraged to register 15 skaters plus one goalie.
• If fewer than 15 skaters register for a team, we may assign free agents to that team to complete its roster. Free-agent assignments will take into consideration available roster space, division, player skill level and overall tournament needs.
• If your team is not listed during registration, please email member_relations@gayhockey.com to have your team name added to the registration list.

Free Agents

• Players who do not have a team may register as a Free Agent.
• Free agents may be placed on an existing team that has available roster space.
• We also intend to create one or more teams made up primarily of free agents, depending on registration numbers. Where possible, these teams will be organized with the goal of creating balanced rosters based on the information available to us.
• Free agent registration does not guarantee placement on a team. Placement will depend on registration numbers, available roster space, division needs and the overall tournament structure.

Tournament Social Events

Canada Cup is about more than hockey. Tournament weekend will include opportunities for players to connect and socialize off the ice.

• Friday Night: Canada Cup gathering at Woody's. Additional details will be provided closer to the tournament.
• Additional Events: More information about tournament social events and programming will be announced as details are finalized.

² For travel within North America, the discount is 5% on eligible Standard fares and 10% on eligible Flex fares and higher. Registration Fees

• Early Bird: $185.00 per player through September 6, 2026
• Regular Registration: $200.00 per player beginning September 7, 2026
• Payment: Credit card only

Registration is completed on an individual player basis. Completing the earlier Canada Cup pre-registration interest form did not reserve a tournament spot. Anyone wishing to participate must complete and pay for the official tournament registration.
