Important Information:
What is an Occasional Playing Member?
Occasional Playing Members act as substitute players when needed and have access to:
- On-ice activities, such as skills development sessions and shinnies.
- Off-ice events, including the holiday party and year-end banquet.
Please note:
- Occasional Playing Members are non-voting members and cannot participate in Board elections.
- There is no guarantee of substitute play in games, but participation in eligible activities is welcomed.
- Completing this registration does not guarantee substitute games or permanent placement.
How does it work?
This season, teams can request substitute players to fill vacancies on a game-by-game basis when they have fewer than 10 confirmed skaters. To maintain a fun and competitive balance across teams, substitutes are matched based on skill level and must be similar in ability to the absent player.
When a substitute player is needed, an email will be sent to eligible Occasional Playing Members at the appropriate skill level. Spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Note: Substitute opportunities depend on team needs, player availability, position, and skill-level matching.
Can Occasional Playing Members Become Permanent?
Yes. Occasional Playing Members may become Permanent Playing Members based on the TGHA Player Replacement and Substitution Policy and available roster openings.
Player Self-Evaluation:
As part of registration, you will be asked to complete a self-evaluation of your hockey skills. TGHA accommodates players of all skill levels. This information helps us understand your hockey background and support fair and balanced player substitutions.
